What travelers say:
This is a meal I have eaten here in three years, this Hatay cuisine, the southernmost area of turkey, adjacent to western Syria. It is located on the tram and metro stations in Aqsaray, and a couple of Grand Bazaar stops short taxis or moderate walks from these locations. The food is superb, and very different from most traditional Turkish restaurants, it's a revelation. From oregano leaf salad, tomatoes and green olives, to pastries and skewers, walnuts and chili, and wonderful flamebeed rock salt dome concealing juicy mutton chunks with rice or whole chicken, also stuffed with fragrant rice, with uniquely seasoned beef and mutton skewers, PURéED barbqued eggplant, and other plummeting and mezzes, You can't fault it. Let the white suit, bristling hat guide staff through this big different menu. Prices are quite reasonable considering the quality of the ingredients and preparations and the quantity of food provided. Although dog bags are not the standard of Turkish restaurants, if you can't resist the temptation to try many dishes, so don't hesitate to ask for one, and therefore over-order! Every region of Turkey is very proud of its own regional characteristics, and there is reason for its unique flavor in Khatay.
